description: Jake has lived in Harlan County most of his life. Both his parents were originally from Alabama and migrated to southeast KY. Jake Ravizee is a gospel singer, singing primarily in Black Baptist churches in southeast Kentucky. He sometimes sings at events, as well. In the past he has sung with choirs, but currently he typically sings solo with tracks accompanying him.He learned to sing by growing up in Black Baptist churches in Harlan County. He also comes from an extended family that has a long-standing tradition of singing Black gospel songs. He is related to the Ravizee Family Singers out of Alabama. Along with his church community and his family, he also learned to sing at school (he attended "the colored school" growing up in Harlan County).
