This year the Day Law was eliminated and Berea College began to reestablish its inter-racial education program. This issue of the Chimes is dedicated to Dr. Elizabeth S. Peck. There are international students in the Upper Division this year: Carlos P. Lopez from Havana, Cuba, Andre Rieben from Tolochenaz, Switzerland, Maurice Shamma from Cairo, Egypt, Gertrude Bremer from Ankana, Turkey, Sakiko Miyashio from Kapaa, Kanuai, Hawaii, Vincente Luis Rodriquez from Marianao, Cuba, Ruven Dario Recio from Antilla, Cuba, Ernest G. Strauss from Amsterdam, Holland, and Ernest Wende from Cochbamba, Bolivia. In this year the Keyboard Club, Speech Choir, Danforth Choir, Math Club, and Students for Democratic Action appear for the first time.
