Transcript: THREE POSTERS Number I To Whom It May Concern: We object to being degraded by an handful of ill informed, Qaulified [sic] Marchers (see other poster). Using the name of Berea College; and pretending to represent the college community when only a small portion is actually participating ! ! ! We hope that the dignity and reputation will be upheld, and not scarred by this minority !! If you march, do so as (of Berea College) individuals as you do not have the sanction of a majority of the college community. Signed: Interested students for racial integration, but not forced integration. Number II To set the record straight: 1) The S.A. Senate, composed of the elected representative of the student body, voted unanimously to endorse the March. 2) The Berea College Faculty voted unanimously to endorse the March on Frankfort. Secrecy is antithetical to the principles of a free, open society that most of us as Americans an Bereans cherish. Therefore, will the persons responsible for these signs please identify themselves. Frank Corbett (A Marcher, a Berean, and sick at heart that this could happen at Berea) Number III Dear Mr. Corbett (Marcher and Berean): We are sick at the stomach to learn that you are sick at heart to learn that (you know what) exists at Berea (namely clear thinking intelligent people). We think that you, Mr. Corbett, represent that group of starry-eyed, quasi-intellectuals and one-worlders who are currently trying to socialize America, make it a police state. Thank God good ol' U.S.A. isn't run like Berea College. In other words, Go To Hell Mr. Corbett (Or to California) Signed: The NAAWP (My note. evidently they mean to imply that the NAAWP stands for the National Association for the Advancement of White People - this group has been legally incorporated in at least one state and it sounds as if we have a Berea chapter!)
